Should Your IT Support Services Do Absolutely Everything?
Every now and then, we get a client that asks us why we can’t offer direct support and expertise for everything they need. It’s a valid question – after all, we’re their IT services and support. Shouldn’t we handle everything IT-based for them?
The truth is that “IT” is a rather general term, and there are lots of specific services and technologies that fall under it that we don’t directly support:
- Website design
- Wiring
- VoIP and communications
The list goes on – but we don’t see this as a bad thing…
The Need For True Expertise In IT Services And Support
Think about it – every trade has its role.
Glaziers cut and install the glass, electricians handle the wiring and electrical components, concrete finishers lay the concrete, etc. You wouldn’t expect one to fulfill the role of another, right?
This kind of strategy shouldn’t end with your network of tradesmen either; you should apply it to everything you do, and to the IT services and support that you rely on.
But given how many different services and solutions could fall under the IT umbrella, how could you expect a company to be an expert with each and every one of them? We would argue that anyone who tells you they’re an expert at everything, most likely isn’t.
We don’t think it’s worth it to our clients to be a jack of all trades and master of none; instead, we focus on a few core competencies and then get the rest of the services we deliver to our clients from other trusted industry-leaders in their own right.
What Does Expert IT Support Services Look Like?
We’re proud to have developed the following expert services because we feel that they’re the most important to our clients:
Managed IT
Managed IT Services are designed to make sure that your technology works properly, without you having to do anything about it. Problems are prevented, daily management is handled, and you enjoy the benefits offered by well-maintained IT – as simple as that.
We will take on the role of monitoring your organization’s network performance, quality, and downtime, remediating issues quickly when they arise—often before end-users realize there is an issue. Over time, we will gather data that helps you improve the infrastructure, optimize performance, and reduce costs
Cloud Services
The cloud is a network of technologies that allows access to computing resources, such as storage, processing power, and more.
You should be using the cloud for the same reasons that thousands of other accounting firms have already adopted cloud computing:
- Being able to better expand as your staff and principals have secure access to each and every client’s financial information.
- Lower costs in terms of your facility as there’s no need to expand or relocate to better accommodate large equipment and/or added staff members.
- Greater communication with clients in terms of providing them better access to their financial information.
- Enhanced productivity as there’s no need to disrupt your staff to make important updates to their systems.
Does Your IT Support Services Try (And Fail) To Do Everything?
Don’t believe someone when they tell you they can do anything and everything. A true expert knows where their strengths are, and when they should rely on other experts and the resources they offer. Look for realistic IT services and support.
